Join the #SUPPORTPRINCESSMARGARET Twitter party Monday, November 2, 2015

With both of our families 500 kilometres away in the Toronto area, I can’t tell you how many times we’ve heard our mothers say wistfully, “You could always move home…” It’s one of the reasons I order a ticket every year for the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Welcome Home Sweepstakes. How amazing would it be to win the luxurious Oakville showhome or one of the gorgeously appointed cottages in Muskoka and the Kawarthas? All three are move-in ready and and so much closer to our families. More importantly, they’re helping to raise millions of dollars for one of the top five cancer research centres in the world.  Continue reading “Join the #SUPPORTPRINCESSMARGARET Twitter party Monday, November 2, 2015” →

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas (yes!) + A Minted giveaway

Butter Celebrates! A Year of Sweet Recipes to Share with Family and Friends

I love a reason to celebrate, even if you have to dig a little deep to find one. One summer we threw a party for Huey Lewis’ birthday (July 5). We played music by Huey Lewis and the News (obvs), displayed a couple of framed 8 x 10’s of Huey that we’d signed as if he’d autographed them for us, and put out of spread of foods we called Huey’s favourites. Which of course included cake: a homemade three-layer chocolate birthday beauty with a little bit of a lean and a whole lot of butter cream icing. It was some kind of wonderful, that party. I think Rosie Daykin would have approved. The owner of Vancouver’s Butter Baked Goods bakery and bestselling author is back with a year of reasons to celebrate in her second book, Butter Celebrates: A Year of Sweet Recipes to Share with Family and Friends.
