If you follow the blog The House That Lars Built, you know that its creator, Brittany Jepsen, is a major talent. The writer, photographer, designer, stylist and artist delights thousands of readers daily with her whimsical DIYs, stunning paper crafts, picture-perfect parties, one-of-a-kind design and sunny Scandinavian aesthetic. So I was thrilled when Brittany sent me a copy of her book, Flowers Coloring Book: Botanical Patterns and Charts for Beautiful Color Play and I just know you’ll love it too. It’s 60 pages of Brittany’s own illustrations, featuring 10 botanicals in varying degrees of detail for colouring fans of all ages. Poppy, lilac, magnolia, peony, tulip, sweet pea, rose, sunflower, protea and daisy are all depicted in scientific charts, bouquets, patterns, close-ups and mirrored views. Come see!
Although I’m a terrible perfectionist, I don’t get as hung up on getting my colouring “right” as much as I do writing or taking pictures. I do give some real thought to the colours I want to use so they’ll complement each other, but once I get started I find my stress soon stars to melt away.
Whether you colour in a sunny window seat, at the lake, or at your kitchen table, I think Flowers Coloring Book will help you find your happy place.
