This guy here is the king of the castle. And he is not amused when you disturb his sleep. Earlier this week I asked him to shove over to open a delivery from bedface, a Vancouver-based online bedding company with a product so smart it’ll make you wonder, “Well sheet, why didn’t I think of that?” You can mix and match sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers in 24 different colours or choose from a wide selection of pre-made sets and sleep soundly knowing bedface donates 10% of proceeds to the Canadian Red Cross Fort McMurray Fire-Relief.
It’s a bold (and some would say un-Canadian!) claim to say you make the best damn sheets on the internet, but I like their swagger.
Each shipment comes with a few surprises, like this brilliant popcorn, a cheeky door hanger and a 100-night guarantee. Any returned sheets are donated to homeless shelters in the Vancouver area.
I ordered the super sleep set in white story, which includes a fitted sheet, a duvet cover and two pillow cases in starlight white and a flat sheet in feather grey. The material feels thicker than any sheets I’ve ever tried, and has a matte finish. Founders Brad Westerop and Fraser Hall say thread count, schmed count (does anybody really understand what that means anyway?) — what’s important is breathability, durability and comfort. Bedface sheets are made from a proprietary 100% cotton called facetech that has large threads and a loose weave to make them breathable, soft and long-lasting.
Can you read that? The tag says “For Best Results: Drape over 4 back to back chairs. Place broom handle to prop up the centre. Secret lair constructed. You’re welcome.” Ha ha ha. I love little details like these. The tag with the washing instructions is super cute too.
I don’t always make the bed (shhh!), but when I have new sheets and they’re going to be on the internet I sure do. I’m a white sheet gal through and through, so the grey flat sheet was my big bold step out of my comfort zone. Whether you like colour or not, try the bedface bed maker. You can mix and match your bedding to see what it’ll look like together and add funny backgrounds and bedfellows.
I don’t remember the last time we treated ourselves to new sheets (‘tho I do remember wearing one so thin my hubby put his foot through it, so way too long) and I’m super happy with these ones. They’ve got some weight to them but they’re not too hot, and I’m a sweaty Betty so it’s ah-mazing to sleep through the night in dry sheets. They’re the best damn ones we’ve had.
