What happened here this weekend? The house looks like we had a break-in, ‘tho instead of taking things away, the thieves added more stuff and spread it all around LOL. Ah but it was good. Lots of relaxing and Netflix and a Thanksgiving feast. Here’s a few ideas to keep things feeling festive through to Halloween, plus a giveaway for a new fave that I think you’ll like too.
The DIY gourd tea light holders above are a favourite here on the site every year. I think they’d look great lining the windowsills for Halloween, and you could totally swap out the candles for LED lights. You’ll find my how-to post here on So Fawned Lifestyle.
Scary-cute monster doughnuts we made from the latest issue of Today’s Parent. I used my favourite baked doughnut recipe, the baked maple cinnamon doughnuts from Cooking With My Kid, but go ahead and use store-bought if you want. I won’t tell.
Squat pumpkins make pretty vases. These were selling like hotcakes at the farmer’s market on Sunday.
A great activity to get everybody outside enjoying the Fall weather: pumpkin bowling! Decorate toilet paper rolls to look like ghosts or jack-o-lanterns and use wee gourds for the bowling balls.
No time to decorate cookies? Chapters has a fun selection every year from the London, Ontario bakery A Couple of Squares. These ghost ones are from last Fall, but they have the most fantastic Dracula and pumpkin cookies this year. (They’re not cheap, but they’re little works of art!)
And my new fave snack: the insanely delicious energy bites Bounce just rolled out in Canada. I need a little sumthin’ sumthin’ before a run to help me go the distance and three or four of them are just the thing to put a pep in my step or pick me up when I’m out and about. Like the original Bounce balls, they’re made with fruits, nuts and whey protein and free of gluten and GMOs. Loblaws carries them now, and you’ll find them at several other retailers in November. (And you can always order them directly from Bounce.) Here’s a chance to try them!
To win three bags of Bounce Bites (one of each of the three flavours: coconut cacao, blueberry banana and my fave, coconut almond; four servings in each pack), tell me something that puts a pep in your step in the comments below. This entry is mandatory.
For an additional entry, follow try small things on Facebook and share this post, then tell me you did so and your name on Facebook in the comments below.
