It’s your friendly neighbourhood Spiderman! I’m just home from a quick trip to Toronto and looking at the weeks ahead — it’s a big month for trying small things with more travel, a new fitness challenge, some fun events and more.
Starting / Another 30-Day Challenge with my happy place, The Dailey Method barre + cycle fitness studio, along with The Real Food Reset. (Both were comped in exchange for my participation as a brand ambassador.) Although I’ll be away for six of the 30 days, I’m setting my goal at 23 classes for the month and want to feel better in my clothes by the end of it. (Anybody else feel like their jeans shrunk a bit over the summer?) I’ll keep you posted on my progress. And if you want to try one or both along with me, let me know! I’m happy to answer any questions, and if I don’t know the answer I’ll find out and get back to you.
Going / To a dinner with Bonne Maman, to the opening of Ottawa’s first Chatime bubble tea shop, and on a four-day getaway/media trip to Parkbridge Resorts in Wasaga Beach with Ann, Cathy and Shannon. And I did an overnight to Toronto (that’s where I saw Spidey) this weekend to attend Penguin Random House Canada’s Fall Preview event. So many fantastic books coming out this Fall! Keep an eye out for Strangers With The Same Dream (released August 29), All We Leave Behind: A Reporter’s Journey into The Lives of Others (out September 19) and Beautiful Scars: Steeltown Secrets, Mohawk Skywalkers and the Road Home (November 21).
Reading / They Both Die At The End (just ordered it today!), A Book That Takes Its Time: An Unhurried Adventure in Creative Mindfulness and so excited for John Green’s new Turtles All The Way Down and Adam J. Kurtz’s Things Are What You Make Of Them in October!
Trying / Recipes from Sheet Pan Suppers Meatless: 100 Surprising Vegetarian Meals Straight From The Oven (watch for a review and giveaway early October) and Hot Mess Kitchen: Recipes For Your Delicious Disastrous Life.
Celebrating / A one-year anniversary for my friends at The Taste Box, the Toronto-based food subscription box company. (Some of you might remember my first post about The Taste Box last year.) In honour of their milestone, creators Matt and Jenni are sharing four of their favourite pantry items for The Founder’s Box. And I’ve got one to give away!
September’s box includes Il Molino extra virgin olive oil, Dolce & Gourmando herbes de provence, QITAF pomegranate molasses and Barocco Arabica ‘Appian” medium roast coffee. You’ll also find a card describing each of the products and a link to exclusive recipes to use them in.
To enter to win The Founder’s Box, tell one or two products you’d love to see in a future box in the comments below.
