TSC sent me the KitchenAid Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder Attachment and the Artisan Mini stand mixer to try free of charge. The opinions in this post are mine, and not Rogers’.
I’m so excited for tomorrow! One of you lucky readers is going to win a gorgeous KitchenAid Artisan Mini stand mixer plus the slicer/shredder attachment I’m going to quickly show you here. (If you haven’t yet entered, don’t miss your chance!) I’m not exactly known for my knifing skills and have regular run-ins with the grater so the slicer/shredder attachment is one of those things I should have picked up years ago. It’s easy to use, even easier to clean (which is important) and does the job much quicker (and smarter) than I do. You’re going to love it!
What you’ll get: a medium shredding blade (suggested for cauliflower, beets, carrots and cheese), a coarse shredding blade (try zucchini and potatoes), a slicing blade (meant for carrots, cucumber, zucchini, potatoes, cabbage and the like), a large and a small food pusher and the feed tube that you attach to the mixer.
Now in hindsight I could have tried something more seasonal for the slicer like potatoes for scalloped potatoes, but we’re a little low on groceries so cucumber it is.
Just like you would with a food processer, you turn on the motor and push the cucumber into the feed tube with the food pusher.
And voilà! Thin, uniformly sliced cucumbers in seconds. And when you’re done, you can put the blade in the top rack of the dishwasher. (Only the white housing needs to be cleaned by hand.)
We like our cheese over here, so I can easily see use using the shredder a couple of times a week for tacos, quesedillas, scrambled eggs and what have you. I usually pawn the grating off on my hubby. But not anymore!
How perfect are those little cheese curls? They literally took seconds to make, and I didn’t skin myself in the process! If you want to see more, TSC has a great video showing the attachment in action that’s kinda making me want another mixer in yellow. And bonus: the attachment is compatible with all KitchenAid stand mixers.
Now I promised I’d be quick so I’ll leave it there, but if you have any comments or questions, please fire away! You know I love always love hearing from you.
Okay maybe one more shot with the cucumbers.
How would you use the slicer/shredder?
