Sneaking in Netflix in style #StreamTeam

Netflix July 2017 feature image try small things

I live in jeans and tees year-round and try to stretch out sandal season as long as I can, but watching Suits on Netflix makes me want to dress better. Those pencil skirts that make Rachel’s legs look a mile long, the made-to-measure dresses that fit Donna and Jessica like a glove, those big brown puppy dog eyes that make Harvey — oh sorry, we were talking about clothes. But when funds for fun things are short and you’re honestly too lazy to put in much effort, a cute clutch can punch it up on the cheap. And if it’s large enough, double as a tablet case so you can sneak a peek at those big brown eyes wherever you go. Here are my favourite clutches for your ipad mini (or similar-sized tablet) and a few other things besides. (PS: Mine is on sale.)  Continue reading “Sneaking in Netflix in style #StreamTeam”

Five things + a Netflix giveaway for two!

Plant Lady

It’s sweltering hot outside and hubby has the kids at the pool, so I thought I’d pop in here for a bit and write a quick hello and how-do. AS IF it only takes me a bit to write a post. Ha! When pigs fly. But I’ll to try to make it quick. Here’s a few pics from life lately (starting with this snap my mom took when she visited last month) and a Netflix giveaway just because.  Continue reading “Five things + a Netflix giveaway for two!”

Clear the clutter! Spring cleaning your Netflix profile #StreamTeam

Spring cleaning your Netflix profile feature image 2

We always say our house never looks as clean as it does when someone’s coming to visit. And you can tell by the state of the house that we don’t get many visitors. But with Spring sprung and Summer just around the corner, I feel like I want to tackle some of those long-overlooked areas, including my digital spaces.  Continue reading “Clear the clutter! Strong female lead #Netflix #StreamTeam

Netflix March post 3

Kids are like sponges, picking up what we put down whether we like it or not. In honour of International Women’s Day earlier this month, Netflix asked the #StreamTeam to consider what messages our kids receive from the female Netflix characters they connect with, and what impact they’ve had. Why? Because studies have shown that gender stereotypes have an impact on girls at a young age, and that role models from the entertainment they choose can have a lasting effect. They’re back! Date night with Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

gilmore-girls

I never thought I’d say it because she’s growing up too fast already, but today I wish my nine-year-old daughter was just three, maybe four years older so we could watch the Gilmore Girls revival together. (Ideally on one of these babies.) In case you hadn’t heard, the mini series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life debuted on Netflix today. This is a major bonding opportunity I’m missing out on! And Netflix has the stats to back it up.  Continue reading “They’re back! Date night with Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”

Because we need to talk #StreamTeam

Nine try small things

We need to talk. No, not you and me. But I scared you for a second, didn’t I? Because nobody starts a conversation about taking the family to Disneyland or getting a puppy that way. It’s almost always something heavy. Like how we can’t afford to go to Disneyland or it’s not the right time for a puppy. Difficult conversations. The kind of conversations I’m terrible at. And my oldest just turned nine, so we’ve got a lot of them coming. Important conversations. Awkward conversations. Conversations that might be better easing into than confronting head-on. (Both for me, and for her.) And I can use all the help I can get.  Continue reading “Because we need to talk #StreamTeam”
