Thomas Allen & Son sent me Unicorn Food in exchange for an honest review; I’m partnering with Indigo and Alt on the events mentioned here; and Penguin Random House Canada sent me This Moment Is Your Life (And So Is This One) for review purposes. All opinions are my own and from the heart.
So let’s pretend I’m not writing this on a Monday, because that just seems like a weird day for a round-up. I wanted to catch you up on a few things, share some exciting events coming up, and make sure you didn’t miss out on two giveaways ending this week. But first, can we talk about this incredible Rainbow Pull-Apart Bread?ย
Saturday was dreary so we put on our aprons and made our first recipe from Cayla Gallagher’s Unicorn Food: Rainbow Treats and Colorful Creations to Enjoy and Admire. (You might know Cayla from pankobunny, her wildly popular YouTube cooking show. And she’s from Toronto!) The red, orange and green dough in our rainbow loaf mushroomed above the yellow and the blue but I still think it turned out pretty fantastic. Fluffy and light, with a little sweetness from the raisins and cinnamon sugar between the layers. The book has more than 80 cakes, cookies and treats like Mini Unicorn Pies, a Naturally-Dyed Rainbow Cake, Rainbow No-Churn Ice Cream, Rainbow Bagels, and Confetti Pancakes. HELLO AMAZING! What would you make first?
June is crazy busy in a good way. Next week I’ll be sharing a sneak peek at the new Indigo Innes (3900 Innes Road, Orleans) before the store’s grand opening June 9, plus a giveaway for Indigo-lovers across the country. (YES!)
And Cathy and I are teaching a craft workshop at Indigo Pinecrestย at on June 18 at 7 pm to get you Canada Day ready from head to toe! The event is for Plum Rewards members and costs $10/person or you can use $10 in Plum points, and you can register in store or by phone at (613) 596 – 3003. We would love to see you! If you’re interested and/or register, would you please let us know by indicating on the Facebook event page? (Note: The page says 7 to 8 pm but we may run a little longer, maybe to 8:30 or 9 at the very latest.)
Before that, Lily and I have a girls’ weekend planned at the Alt Hotel here in Ottawa (Cathy and I went to their 5ย ร ย 7 earlier this spring), followed by her birthday slumber party here at the house. (Did I mention our house is teeny tiny? The girls are going to be packed in like sardines!)
Cat and Maria are coming to Ottawa this summer (and maybe Mary too!) so we’ll make plans to meet at a cute coffee shop or two. (Some place IG-worthy for sure.) We’ve been chatting and supporting each other on social media for a while and I just love them to bits, so it’ll be wonderful to finally meet them all IRL! (But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous too. You know, the usual “What if I’m not interesting/funny/smart enough? What if they don’t like me?” rabbit hole I almost always fall down when I’m meeting someone new.)
June 1 marks the start of another 30-Day Challenge at The Dailey Method, where participants try to do as many classes as they can in 30 days. I committed to 26 because I’ve done it before but eeeek! this month is especially busy so it’s going to be tough. But I got this! (I got this, right?) I love LOVE their spin classes and might even try another barre class or two. I’ll report back and let you know how it’s going!
Oh! I haven’t forgotten about 50 Ways to Draw Your Beautiful, Ordinary Life. I mentioned I’ll be doing a giveaway for the book and I still will, I’m just waiting on some images to show you a peek inside. As soon as I have those I’ll be able to get my post up. And I’d hoped to share two super cute Harry and Meghan books with you before the wedding but one hasn’t yet arrived so stay tuned for that, plus a chance to win both.
And speaking of giveaways, there’s just a few more days left to enter to win a copy of Craft the Rainbow: 40 Colorful Paper Projects from The House That Lars Built and a DYNAMITE tee from one of my favourite online shops, Cocus Pocus. The second one is open worldwide so go go!
And what else? When I’m not in my jammies I’m wearing this dress from Old Navy (I have the navy and the black and white striped) and these eyelet overalls from Aerie. I’ve got this song playing on repeat; this book at the top of my TBR pile, and this stockpiled in the freezer for a healthy treat any time of day.
Now tell me about you! What’s on the horizon that you’re excited about? What are you reading and listening to? You know I love hearing from you so spill the beans!
